      This is a casual, rustic weekend of good food, good fellowship, and good Word. It is a large notch above camping --- mattress, roof, hot and cold running water, showers and flush toilets--- but it still is RUSTIC. It's fun to "rough it" now and then. Join us!

Arrive at Camp Joy between 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. SATURDAY, May 31, 2008

8:00 a.m.   Setup volunteers arrive. Wanna help put on the weekend? Let us know!
9:45 a.m.   Coffee -n- pastries registration opens. Begin moving into dorms.
10:00 a.m  Pickup games begin (volley ball, frisbee golf, basketball, nature trails)
11:45 a.m. EVERYONE meets in dining hall

Camp Joy Florida Family Weekend Getaway officially closes after the Sunday noon meal. You are welcome to stay until sunset to enjoy the camp, canoe, swim, etc.

WHO: People, families who would enjoy Christian teaching, fellowship and family activities. Meals provided by the camp, campfire Saturday night, canoeing, games & sports, walking trails, times of prayer & song & Bible & visiting
SPECIAL GUESTS: YOU!
BRING: Bible, camp clothes, toiletries, bedding (mattress provided, everything else on your own! Bring a pillow!). Options: favorite board game, swim suit. Bring clothes for such activities as swimming, canoeing, volleyball, campfire. Dorm housing (NOT co-ed. Ladies on one side, gents on the other. Pack/plan accordingly.)

Local Hotel Information

Here is information on three hotels in the area. I am not well-acquainted with these, though I have visited Crosby's before. I know some of our people have stayed at Crosby's in the past, and I think they had a decent experience. None are 20 star hotels, but if you prefer your own room to the bunks of Camp Joy, this is an option. I've included phone numbers and the room rates they quoted me today. You would need to phone them and make your own arrangements. I did not ask about discounts (like AARP or AAA, etc.), so you might want to. I told them we were Christian Family Fellowship, doing a weekend at Camp Joy. I think at least one of them noted the name.

(NOTE on directions: W. Main Street, W Orange Blossom Trail, and Highway 441 are the same road. Also, 436 merges with this/these roads just east of downtown Apopka, so if you are driving west, coming in from I-4 on 436, you will run right into Main, Orange Blossom, and 441, whatever you want to call it.)
